Health checkups are an important process for assessment of the health of the individuals, the diagnosis and remedy of the problems and for keeping a healthy balance in lifestyle.

Health checkups prevent illnesses, reduce chances of future illnesses and treat existing ailments at an early stage. In addition, they also identify risk factors that can lead to development of disease at a later stage. 

SITUATION OF HEALTHCARE IN RURAL AND SLUM AREAS

In rural and slum areas, most health centres tend to be located at a faraway distance. People incur high transportation costs and there is uncertainty about actually getting the necessary health service.

The prevalent healthcare in several rural areas is not equipped to deal with regular health checkups and with emergency situations. There is a lack of sanitation, clean drinking water and a clean environment.

In a study conducted on more than 800 people from rural and slum areas, it was found that there is a great dissatisfaction with government provided facilities of healthcare. NEED FOR MEDICAL CAMPS AND HEALTHCARE CENTRES FOR RURAL AND SLUM AREAS

In areas where underprivileged people live, medical camps can be set up. Fikrah, an NGO seeking to create change in the way the underprivileged sections get access to healthcare,aims to promote regular checkups for health among underprivileged people.

Medical camps can be set up in rural and slum areas for limited health intervention. Free healthcare check-up can be provided that help cure the diseases faster. 

Free regular healthcare helps save lives ane helps people live for longer. People with low and meagre income who cannot afford expensive healthcare. The healthcare workers have a moral responsibility and obligation to treat each patient regardless of their income, race or social status.

The regular healthcare camps provide high quality medicines and have emergency teams for disasters. These camps raise health awareness, refer cases to specialized centres and for surgery.
